What’s Happening in Truckee – December 25-December 31, 2019

It’s hard to find a better way to celebrate the holidays than in the mountains in beautifully snow-blanketed Truckee. For many, Christmas skiing is a joyous tradition, and the ski resorts already have 100+ inches of snow this season. Whether or not you enjoy snow sports, Truckee has many fun holiday events and Downtown Truckee is full of beautiful boutiques and art galleries to peruse.












Fans of the jolly man in red? Meet Santa for a pancake breakfast at Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area and then find him on the slopes. Bar of America in downtown Truckee features a decadent Christmas Dinner menu, including King Crab Legs and Angus Prime Rib.

No need to roshambo for designated driver or worry about traffic and parking. Leave the car at home December 26 – New Year’s Eve and hop on free Truckee Holiday Shuttles in Truckee neighborhoods, Squaw Valley and Northstar to and from Downtown Truckee, running regularly between 6:00 pm – 2:00 am.

Friday, December 27  Go for dinner at one of many Zagat-rated restaurants downtown and then catch local favorite band Chile Verde at Alibi Ale Works.












Saturday, December 28  Take the whole family on a Snowshoe Stargazing Tour at Northstar, wrapping up with hot drinks and viewing the stars through high-powered professional telescopes.

Sunday, December 29  Tahoe Food Hub hosts a Farm to Table Dinner & a Movie. Gather beside the grand fireplace at Olympic Village Lodge to enjoy a delicious buffet-style dinner created by talented chefs in collaboration with local farmers.

Monday, December 30  Relax your mind and focus on intentions for 2020 at Monday Night Meditation at For Goodness Sake or give yourself care at one of Truckee’s many yoga, fitness, pilates, and massage studios.










Tuesday, December 31, New Year’s Eve!  So many fun possibilities! Join the World’s Largest Torchlight Parade at Squaw Valley. Take the family for ice skating and fireworks at Northstar’s New Year’s Eve Celebration, Tahoe Donner hosts a Guided Snowshoe Tour, then stay for a drink and watch their fireworks,  Old Trestle Distillery & Old Town Tap hosts a New Year’s Eve Celebration, featuring a 5-course meal and five unique cocktails highlighting locally made vodka and gin.
