Elevation Escape is the new Truckee-Tahoe go-to destination for adventure seekers and puzzle enthusiasts. No need to go to Reno or Sacramento for fun escape room activities; as of August 2024, we have one right here in town! This exciting new business offers a unique combination of brain-teasing challenges, immersive storytelling, and community spirit. Family-owned and operated, Elevation Escape has deep roots in Truckee, thanks to its founders’ connection to the local community. The entire family has been involved in this fun new venture, from Kane and Aimee Schaller, their two teen daughters Addison and Kenlee, and Kane’s mother, Lil Schaller. Numerous other locals have joined the Escape Room work team as well. It was a labor of love by many!
Elevation Escape is not just another corporate-run escape room chain; it is a family-owned and operated venture that thrives on personal connection and local pride. Kane and Aimee Schaller, the visionaries behind the business, are no stranger to Truckee’s creative scene. As long-time Truckee Rotary Club members, Kane and Aimee have directed and acted in the wildly popular TDMA Truckee Follies for well over 10 years. Kane is also known for his work acting and directing with Truckee Community Theater.
This involvement with the community has played a significant role in shaping the ethos of Elevation Escape. Kane and his family wanted to create a space where both locals and visitors could come together for a shared experience that promotes teamwork, problem-solving, and a sense of adventure. His background in theater, storytelling, and interactive experiences brings an added layer of immersion and authenticity to each escape room, setting them apart from other, more generic offerings in the industry. In fact, cast and production members from Truckee Community Theater have helped create some of the themed rooms.
One of the most exciting aspects of Elevation Escape is the variety of escape rooms offered. This is an added business for both Aimee and Kane, who both have full-time careers outside of Escape. They are growing slowly and currently feature three fabulous distinct rooms, each catering to different tastes, difficulty levels, and group sizes. Whether you’re a seasoned escape room enthusiast or a first-timer, there’s a challenge waiting for you. You can also “compete” against other groups who have “escaped” from these rooms by beating their time.
The Schallers have plans for 2-3 more rooms and will periodically update rooms as they grow. Book a group and check out Elevation Escape! Located at 12047 Donner Pass Road, Suite A-1 in the West Truckee Center near Thrifty Tails Boutique and Coffeebar Bakery, it’s a great family, work, or friends activity. They are currently offering midweek specials for locals.
