The Museum of Truckee History, in conjunction with the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District, is pleased to announce that plans are being finalized to revive the Truckee Winter Carnival. The free, family-friendly event will include old-time group photos, snow sculpture making, ice skating, historical presentations and more. Show up and have some family fun!
Events are at the Truckee Community Arts Center, the Truckee River Regional Park and the Museum of Truckee History. Please see below for more details.
Join us for your place in history for a group photo commemorating the return of the Truckee Winter Carnival.
Truckee in 1895 was a rough and tumble town with a plethora of saloons, logging and ice men, respectable women and the not so respectable men and women. Truckee has worked hard to preserve its identity as a historic mountain town. Be a part of a walk back to that era.
Come dressed in anything that reminds you of something of Truckee historical looks. Hats, vests, coats, dresses and other items will help to make this historic photo one to remember. Come join us for the free family fun! The older the costume look, the closer to the front of the photo you can to be.
Show off your snow creativity at Regional Park and join us for a day of snowman making and sculpture building. Get ready to witness the enchanting transformation of snow into magnificent works of art at our Snow Sculpting Contest! Sculptors from far and wide will converge to showcase their creativity in two distinct categories. In the Artistic Category, marvel at intricate designs and imaginative sculptures that push the boundaries of snow artistry. Meanwhile, in the Family Fun Category, witness the magic of family teams turning snow into whimsical creations, blending joy and creativity. It’s a day of frozen masterpieces and family bonding, where the cold canvas of snow becomes a playground for artistic expression and winter fun. Join us for a snowy spectacle that will leave you awe-inspired and smiling. Judges will be on site to pick the favorites from the day. Awards announced at 4:00 pm.
No Registration Necessary. Show up with your team, and start building with snow! Judges will decide on winners based on these two categories.
