From beautiful mountains, bluebird skies set against the green pine trees to fresh water lakes and streams there’s plenty to love about Truckee. It’s a place to recreate, relax and reflect on the ever-changing world we live in today.
In Truckee, we value a balanced quality of life, healthy living, families and community, history and culture, and are environmentally conscious. We welcome visitors, friends, new families and neighbors to our community and know you will have an amazing time exploring and experiencing all that Truckee has to offer.
To protect and preserve this magical, authentic place we call home, we as a community are committed to kindness, plenty of love for each other and our environment…. and we invite our everyone to do the same. These are challenging times – and some of our businesses are operating in new and different ways and may be running a bit short staffed. Be patient and kind – after all…. it’s Truckee time… time to slow down, be more laid back and casual. A warm smile is the universal language of kindness.
As more and more people seek healthy, outdoor, wide-open spaces, we all need to take extra steps to respect our favorite outdoor places and everyone out there enjoying them. Take a look at this RESPECT Truckee pledge and embrace the actions and philosophy in your life. This place is magic…. this place is home.
I will explore Truckee thoughtfully and responsibly, maintaining the utmost respect for everyone and everything I encounter.
I will protect and nurture Truckee’s pristine outdoor spaces and cultural icons, by maintaining a light footprint at every turn and paying special attention to delicate ecosystems.
I will support local businesses and do my part to ensure the long-term prosperity of our community.
I will immerse myself in Truckee’s diverse local cultures and embrace the traditions and practices I encounter.
I will lead by example and share these practices with others acknowledging that we all share the responsibility to protect Truckee.
