Good Morning Truckee participants heard from community leaders about the COVID-19 vaccine update, the tireless and challenging work of local nonprofits, pivoting and working with limited resources to help with the COVID-19 pandemic, and how the crisis has worsened the housing crisis and food insecurities (also hear about the generosity of our community stepping up to help out). The meeting ended with information about federal and state legislation to protect tenants from eviction due to COVID-19 related hardships.
Harry Weis, CEO Tahoe Forest Health System, provided an update on the COVID-19 vaccine, explained the distribution process, what the Tahoe Forest Health System is doing to educate the community on the safety of the vaccine to create trust, and the importance of getting the vaccine to protect you and others and help stop the pandemic.
Stacy Caldwell, CEO of the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF), along with Phyllis McConn, Community Impact Officer, and Alison Schwedner, Director of the Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee spoke about the impact that COVID-19 has had on our community and our nonprofits, particularly our safety net nonprofits focused on rental assistance, food and housing insecurity, and mental health.
David Wolfe, Attorney at Porter Simon, went over California and Federal COVID-19 Tenant Eviction Protection Legislation. As of now, California AB 3088 is set to expire on December 31, 2020 and CDC Orders are set to expire January 31, 2021. The presentation provided an overview of relevant issues for landlords and tenants under AB 3088 and the CDC Orders. VIEW SLIDES HERE
