September Good Morning Truckee: Update from Our Education Partners
September 1, 2023
Join the Truckee Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, for Good Morning Truckee with an update from our education partners. We are now starting at 8:00 a.m. with doors open at 7:45 a.m. to ensure time to check in, grab your coffee and breakfast and find a seat.
September’s Good Morning Truckee will bring together some of our esteemed educational partners to provide insights into the 2023-24 school year. The newly-appointed Superintendent and Chief Learning Officer of Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD), Kerstin Kramer, will introduce herself in her new role and offer an update on the recently adopted 2023-2026 District Strategic Plan Framework. This comprehensive framework, developed through a year-long process of meticulous feedback and thorough research, will serve as a guide for the District’s strategic trajectory over the next three years. It will particularly concentrate on enhancing Academic Achievements, bolstering Support Systems, and fortifying Community Connections.
Dr. Kim Bateman, Dean of Sierra College’s Tahoe-Truckee Campus, will discuss the array of services available at Sierra College. These services are designed for individuals contemplating a career switch, aspiring to transfer to a four-year college, or desiring to sustain their lifelong learning journey.
Additionally, we’ll hear from Mindy Carbajal, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. Mindy will shed light on the plethora of exceptional programs that the Boys & Girls Club will be offering throughout this school year.
Good Morning Truckee is offered in person and is recorded for viewing at a later date if you are unable to attend in person. It’s held at Truckee Town Hall, upstairs in the Council Chamber, at 10183 Truckee Airport Road. Doors open at 7: 45 a.m. and the program starts promptly at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 9:15 a.m. Audience members are invited to give a 1-2 minute stump speech at the end of the meeting. Good Morning Truckee is $10 for Truckee Chamber Members and $12 for future members and includes coffee, courtesy of Mountain Brew – soon to be opening at Donner Lake – and a continental breakfast.
These events are a great way to meet other community members. Whether you are new or have lived here for years, hearing from our leaders in the community is an enjoyable way to stay on top of important issues, connect and engage. One of the great things about living in a small community like Truckee is that you can personally know your leaders and work with them to make a difference.
